**NEWS FLASH**<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last update October 08, \u00a02022<\/strong><\/p>\n

On behalf of the entire Dreams Take Flight family, we\u2019d like to thank all of our\u00a0golfers and sponsors for supporting our 18<\/span>th<\/span> Annual Golf Tournament. To date, Dreams Take Flight has taken over 30,000 children to the happiest place on earth, Walt Disney World! There, they experience the wonder of friendship and magic. Our continued goal is to help give these wonderful children one incredible day of happiness and provide them with a lifetime of memories.<\/span><\/p>\n

We couldn\u2019t do any of this without the support and generosity of all our golfers and sponsors. Thanks to you, we raised over $47,000 which will go directly to our next flight. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for 2023!<\/span><\/p>\n

The annual golf tournament is our major, single-day fundraising event and it our wish that you will be part of this tournament again next year. Mark your calendars for summer 2023!<\/span><\/p>\n

Dear Dreams Take Flight members, volunteers, and flight participants,<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

At Dreams Take Flight Toronto, the safety & well-being of everyone that takes part in making our annual trip to Walt Disney World possible remains the utmost priority to us.\u00a0 On March 16th, our Dreams Take flight executive board made the difficult, but responsible decision to postpone the flight originally scheduled to take place on May 6th, 2020.\u00a0 At that time, we all had hopes to reschedule the flight for a later date of October 7th, 2020.\u00a0 Unfortunately, ongoing COVID-19 developments in the world, including travel restrictions where the Canada-US borders remain closed, and restrictions of large gatherings continue.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It is with a heavy heart that we have made the difficult decision to which will require us to cancel our flight for 2020 and focus on making ‘Dreams Take Flight’ in May 2021.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On a positive note, while life is nowhere near what we lived prior to March, with ourselves and families time now spent learning to adapt to the seemingly daily changes of restrictions, we can still expect hope on the horizon, a hope that we find a new normal we can work with.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Our team continues to monitor weekly if not daily updates from all Disney news sources. Presently, Shanghai Disneyland is open with many social distancing initiatives implemented.<\/div>\n
Preparations are underway to open Disney Springs in Orlando,\u00a0a themed retail, dining, and entertainment center, on May 20.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
It’s unclear when Walt Disney World theme park will open. It will no doubt have limitations placed on capacity and operating hours. In addition to social distancing, Disney will likely require masks for both employees and guests.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Our number one priority is everyone’s health and well being. Our Dreams Take Flight doctors are keeping up to date on health protocols and we feel confident we will be able to make the best decision by mid-summer.<\/p>\n

Our departure is still planned for Wednesday, October 7, 2020, with the information session on Saturday, September 12.<\/p>\n

Dear Dreams Take Flight Members, Volunteers, and Flight Participants,<\/p>\n

Given the everchanging news and uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 situation, along with the unprecedented measures being taken around us, the Dreams Take Flight executive board have taken the difficult but responsible position to postpone the departure of Dreams Take Flight May 2020\u2019s flight to Walt Disney World. \u00a0Our top priority is everyone\u2019s health and wellbeing.<\/p>\n

Our planned departure is now Wednesday, October 7, 2020 with the information session on Saturday, September 12.\u00a0 Any changes to this will be communicated to you.\u00a0 Alternatively, please continue to monitor our website dreamstakeflight.ca<\/p>\n

We are still in the process of collecting passenger information as if the flight were still leaving in May.\u00a0 If we have asked you for further information, please continue to work on it and forward it as soon as possible.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

All About Us<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

In 1989, four Toronto based Air Canada employees planned a trip-of-a-lifetime for 70 children <\/span><\/span>with different challenges <\/span><\/span>to spend the day at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

By 1997, the Dreams Take Flight charity had expanded to eight cities across Canada.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To date, the organization has flown thousands of children to Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California. \u00a0<\/span><\/span>The members of Dreams Take Flight are <\/span><\/span>proud to say, <\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span><\/span>the organization is 100%<\/span><\/span> volunteer<\/span><\/span>–<\/span><\/span>driven<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u201d<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Each year, Air Canada and the Air Canada Foundation provide an aircraft for our use. Dedicated volunteers from within and outside of the airline community work tirelessly year-round to make each flight a success. All expenses for the children are paid, thanks to fundraising by our volunteers, corporate and private donations, and charity golf tournaments. \u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Chapter<\/span><\/span> volunteers <\/span><\/span>work with various medical organizations, social agencies and school districts, to select the children for the flight<\/span><\/span> who might not otherwise have the opportunity<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2020 marks Toronto\u2019s 32<\/span><\/span>nd<\/span><\/span> year of <\/span><\/span>making Dreams Take Flight <\/span><\/span>magical <\/span><\/span>memories <\/span><\/span>for <\/span><\/span>so many children. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The generosity of\u00a0individuals and organizations touches hearts and changes lives.\u00a0 With your support, we can give more Ontario children, who are experiencing <\/span><\/span>difficult <\/span><\/span>challenges in life, this magical trip.\u00a0 Every gift of kindness gives children joy, hope for their future<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> and begins to open the idea of possibilities for them, where they once thought were none.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
